100 Bob initiative is a Community Based Organization (CBO) that supports vulnerable women battling Obstetric Fistula within Marsabit County with Reconstructive Surgery, Emotional, Psychological and Economical support.
Obstetric fistula is a childbirth injury caused by prolonged, obstructed labor. It results in an abnormal hole between the birth canal and bladder or rectum.
It occurs during obstructed labor when timely medical care is unavailable. Pressure from the baby cuts off blood flow, causing tissue to die and form a hole.
Young girls and women in rural areas with limited access to skilled birth attendants and emergency care are most affected.
Yes. Surgery can usually repair the fistula, and proper care after surgery helps the woman recover physically and emotionally.
Poverty, lack of access to maternal healthcare, early marriages, and low awareness contribute to its continued prevalence.
Yes! You can volunteer, spread awareness, partner with us, or host local fundraisers. Every contribution matters.

Remarks
Husband to a Fistula Patient
Most of the women in Marsabit hide their condition because they are ashamed. Some can stay with Fistula for two, three years. There is even a myth going around back at home that they should eat well and gain some weight so that the fistula hole can close by itself.
Founder 100 Bob Initiative
Marsabit County being marginalized; the fistula cases are very high. This is because, it is hard for the women to access timely and quality healthcare. But we are going to change the narrative and restore the dignity of the women battling fistula and consequently put an end to this menace called FISTULA.
Surgeon Nyambene Level 4 Hospital
The time spent in surgery room depends with the severity of the fistula hole. Less complicated cases take an hour while more complicated cases will take longer.
MOH Nyambene Level 4 Hospital
Fistula can be corrected. The only treatment for Fistula is a reconstructive surgery which costs up to Kshs. 250,000 and is done by very few Specialists in Kenya and we are happy that it is readily available here at Nyambene Level 4 Hospital for free, with the help of our Partners.
